Derby County have opened talks to sign former Liverpool striker Bobby Duncan from Fiorentina, as revealed by Football Insider.
Duncan, who left Anfield in controversial circumstances in September 2019 following the advice of his then-agent Saif Rubie, who claimed the club had bullied the striker.
The 19-year-old, who joined the Reds from Manchester City despite being a Liverpool lad, signed for Serie A side Fiorentina for a nominal fee expecting to immediately challenge for a place in the first-team.
However, the striker, who was highly regarded at Kirkby and was the hero of the side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2019, has found himself on the fringes in Florence and is yet to make a senior appearance.
In 12 appearances for the Fiorentina B side, Duncan managed four goals. Although his Premier League Under 18 record reads 18 goals in just 21 matches.
Now the talented forward, under new representation, could be set for his second move in as many years after visiting Derby’s training facilities.
Having been capped by England at Under-19 level, there is certainly a player in Duncan and after a tough 12 months in Italy, surrounded by some less than positive press, the Whiston born striker will be hoping to let his football do the talking once more.
