‘Deserved’ – Stephen Warnock raves about Liverpool player just before kickoff vs Arsenal

Nyoni has featured regularly under Andoni Iraola, but the Spaniard opting to trust him for arguably Liverpool’s most important game of the season so far goes to show just how highly he is rated.

And Stephen Warnock feels the young Englishman deserves to start as he has developed really well this season.

Stephen Warnock lauds Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni

“It’s probably going to surprise a lot [of people] but I think the Anfield fans are thinking it’s a good opportunity for him and he’s deserved that opportunity,” said Warnock via the BBC.

“It’s going to be difficult for him because you’re going up against one of the best midfielders in Europe right now, but I think what we’ve seen from Iraola is that he trusts these young players, and he believes that no occasion is too big for them. I’m really excited to see how he performs today.

When Liverpool let Curtis Jones go without a replacement, a large section of the Anfield faithful were baffled as they essentially weakened their midfield options.

However, judging by how the season has gone so far, Iraola may have earmarked Nyoni to play a massive role so early on in his Liverpool tenure.

Good luck, Trey!
