Dyche: Ings will be a success

Burnley manager Sean Dyche is confident that Danny Ings will be a Liverpool star.

The England Under-21s striker is set to complete his move to Anfield on July 1 after his contract at Turf Moor comes to an end.

Dyche was unable to hold on to the player, who scored 11 goals in the league last season, but managed Ings for more than two-and-a-half years so has expert knowledge on the player.

When discussing the striker’s move, Dyche said, as quoted in the Daily Star“I’m confident he can be a success.

“There is a settling-in period with a new club but hopefully he will be in a good environment and be successful there.

“It’s a big jump, not so much as a footballer, as he played in the Premier League last season, but the fact they are a big, historic club, although Burnley are as well.

“But the grandeur of Liverpool, the physical size of it and the fan presence there, whether they will take to him and he can get off and running, whether he can deliver performances (will all be factors).”

Departing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has also spoken positively about the 22-year-old.

Ings has played 130 matches for Burnley after joining from Bournemouth and has found the net 43 times.

He was awarded the Championship Player of the Year award in the 2013-14 season as the Clarets earned promotion to the Premier League.

The striker is currently in the England Under-21s camp preparing for the start of the European Championship in the Czech Republic.

He will join fellow new signings James Milner and Adam Bogdan at Liverpool.
