Many Liverpool fans have made their feelings known on Twitter as Jurgen Klopp continued the now-familiar party line regarding the Reds’ transfer stance this January.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the FA Cup third round tie with Aston Villa, Klopp admitted it remains unlikely that there will be an incoming centre-back this month, saying:
I can’t say definitely that we won’t sign one but it’s just not likely. This club will always be very responsible with the things we do. If the world was in a normal place and then 3 senior CBs got injured, is that a situation when you would do something? Yes, usually. But it’s not.
A perfectly reasonable explanation it may be, but with the growing feeling that the defensive injury crisis will ultimately scupper the Reds’ title defence, there has been an outpouring of displeasure from numerous Liverpool fans on Twitter.
