Gallery: Liverpool Training – 7th August

Liverpool took to Melwood on Friday for a training session ahead of the Premier League curtain raiser.

Brendan Rodgers took the session with his backroom staff.

Here’s some pictures from the morning…

Earlier today, James Milner was announced as Liverpool’s vice-captain for the season. He was in training today (see above).

Brendan Rodgers had his pre-Stoke press conference after this session – his first of the new season proper.

He was naturally upbeat and described the upcoming game as the ‘perfect’ fixture.

If you want to see more quotes from the press conference, you can see them HERE.

After the 6-1 at the back end of last season, it’s important the Reds start this campaign well, not only to kick off their top four challenge in style, but also to rid themselves of the nightmare that was, at the Britannia last May.

Benteke is expected to play, but Firmino may not be fit enough to start.
