Gary Neville praises ‘unbelievable’ job done by Jurgen Klopp

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville is often loathed to praise Liverpool – just the way it should be.

The Sky Sports pundit feels far more at home predicting that his former employers will lift the Premier League title before the Reds, or that Mohamed Salah is a shoo-in to leave the club.

This week the 46-year-old has continued the trend in suggesting ‘something isn’t right’ at Anfield following an unbeaten start to the new season.

However, the ex-Valencia boss did find time to praise manager Jurgen Klopp whilst speaking to the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel.

Last season for [Liverpool] to finish third was unbelievable. [Klopp is] still doing a great job. And by the way, they are going to make a profit in this transfer window. They’ve got no money – that is one of the things with Liverpool. They haven’t got the money other clubs have got. He’s doing an unbelievable job with the resources. He may have wanted more support in the transfer market. He might have wanted two or three big players. He’s seen that Chelsea, City and [United.

Klopp only added central defender Ibrahima Konate to the squad over the summer whilst welcoming Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Harvey Elliott back into the fold.

Factually it’s hard to disagree with Neville on any of the points raised, albeit seemingly intended to stoke the fire on Merseyside.

Although many Kopites felt an addition or two were necessary, Klopp clearly didn’t and seems content with what he has at his disposal.

Numerous pundits have written the Reds off this term due to lack of spending, making the delight all the more spectacular should Klopp be able to prevail once again.
