Sporting Lisbon’s Gelson Martins has been targeted by Liverpool as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
The Portuguese club has ruled out a January sale but should Coutinho leave, Liverpool could come back with an offer they might find hard to resist.
The future of the Brazilian is still unclear as to whether there will be a sale made to Barcelona within this window or if he will see out the season with his current club.
Thomas Lemar has been identified as a priority target for the reds as a replacement with Leicesters star man Riyad Mahrez a back-up should they not come to an agreement with AS Monaco for the Frenchman
Lemar has been on the radar of a number of different Premier League clubs and looks to favour a move to Liverpool. The fee being touted is in the region of £75m plus add-ons for the promising winger.
Liverpool will also look to strengthen other areas of their squad with the money from the sale of Coutinho as they have identified their need for a new goalkeeper, with the likes of Jack Butland and Alisson on their radar.
