Liverpool defender Joe Gomez was happy with the way his side secured a comprehensive win against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
Speaking to the club’s official website after the match, Gomez expressed his satisfaction at the way in which Liverpool cruised to victory as they returned to winning ways in the illustrious European competition.
Liverpool were comfortable throughout and took the lead courtesy of Roberto Firmino, before two goals from Mohamed Salah and a strike from Sadio Mane helped them to a 4-0 victory.
Reflecting on his side’s win against Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, Gomez said:
It’s always nice to get a solid result with some good goals and a clean sheet obviously as well.
It was important that we got some more points on the board for the group and we’ve just got to continue it now and keep making steps. Clean sheets are important, and it was nice to get another one.
The win takes Liverpool back to the top of Group C after three rounds of fixtures, following PSG’s late draw against Napoli on Wednesday evening.
Gomez will be hoping to keep his place in the Liverpool starting line-up as the Reds prepare to face Cardiff City in the Premier League on Saturday.
