Jordan Henderson could be fit for Liverpool’s make-or-break Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, according to The Athletic‘s James Pearce.
Henderson has been out since injuring his hamstring away to the La Liga side last month ans during his absence, the Reds’ form has taken a nosedive.
Liverpool have lost their last two matches against Watford and Chelsea, with talk of a mini crisis at Anfield.
Responding to a question in a Q&A for The Athletic on Wednesday, Pearce hinted that Henderson is eyeing up a return to the side against Atletico, as Jurgen Klopp’s men look to overturn a 1-0 deficit:
Getting Henderson back for that game would be a huge boost. He’s stepping up his rehab at Melwood.

Having Henderson back for such a massive game would be a huge boost for Liverpool, even if there is the risk of him being under-cooked.
While the 29-year-old may not be among the most gifted players in the squad, he is an inspirational figure who drives the team forward and brings a certain electricity to the side.
Simply having him back on the pitch would feel significant, as Anfield looks to conjure up another special European night.
Such is Henderson’s importance this season, I think it has reached the stage where Jurgen Klopp needs to start him, even if he isn’t 100 per cent fit.
If Liverpool crash out without him, having had the opportunity to risk him, if would sum up a fairly miserable couple of weeks by that point.
