Henderson expected to be out injured for “three weeks”, says Klopp

Jordan Henderson will miss Liverpool’s Premier League clash against West Ham and be out for around three weeks, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The Reds’ skipper limped off in Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid, after suffering a hamstring injury.

It immediately made Henderson doubtful for Monday’s visit of the Hammers, as Liverpool look to continue their remarkable league form.

Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp confirmed that his captain would be unavailable on Monday and for a fee more weeks beyond that:

It could have been worse, it’s a hamstring thing. He will be out for three weeks or so.

Henderson’s absence is an undoubted blow for Liverpool, considering his vast influence this season.

After a relatively slow start to the campaign, the 29-year-old has found a superb level of form, enjoying five goal involvements in his last four league outings.

Henderson’s injury could give Naby Keita a chance to stake a claim, however, and I personally would start him alongside Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum against West Ham.

The Guinean may enjoy an extended run in the team in his skipper’s absence, as he looks to find top gear in a Liverpool shirt.
