Jordan Henderson has likened ‘unbelievable’ Mohamed Salah to Luis Suarez, stating the Egyptian lifts the Liverpool crowd in the same way the latter did before leaving for Barcelona, as reported by Goal.
The former Chelsea and Roma winger has drawn comparisons to both Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona in recent days, but Henderson thinks Salah is having a similar impact to what the former Reds striker during his time at the club.
It’s the confidence. You have someone like Mo who does the hardest part of the game, which is putting the ball in the back of the net. Then, as a team, if we work as hard as we possibly can, Mo [is] going to finish it in the final third. We had that with Luis. You know when you are walking out there are so many goals out there for you.
Salah is the top scorer in the Premier League this season with 28 goals, four ahead of the injured Harry Kane. He is also the third highest assister in the league with nine to his name.
The prolific goalscorer is also on course to break the record of Premier League goals in a season. If Salah continues his average of 0.93 goals a game, he will finish with 35 goals overall, four more than Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 31.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, the winger is ahead of Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Shoe.
Liverpool have nine games remaining this season, which will increase should they progress to the Champions League semi-finals.
Next up for Liverpool and Salah is relegation contenders Crystal Palace, before two huge games against Manchester City in the Champions League and a Merseyside’s derby match against Everton; three matches in which Salah can consolidate himself as a life-long hero at Anfield.
