Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson available for clash with Tottenham

Liverpool have received a major boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Tottenahm, with Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson both expected to be fit.

That’s according to the Telegraph‘s Chris Bascombe, who claims the key do will be available for the must-win trip to north London on Thursday night.

Matip wasn’t risked in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United at the weekend, while Henderson hasn’t featured since the goalless draw at home to the Red Devils in the league.

Liverpool will be aiming to record their first league win since December 19th, but Spurs will provide Jurgen Klopp’s men with a stern test, currently sitting one place and one point below the champions.

The importance of having both Matip and Henderson back cannot be downplayed, such has been their influence this season.

Matip’s return will take youngster Rhys Williams out of the firing line, allowing the Cameroonian to partner Fabinho at centre-back.

With Son Heung-min and Harry Kane two of the best attacking players in the league this season, it is vital that Klopp can call upon his two most dependable, available central defenders.

Henderson’s return to a midfield role – he played at centre-back against United at Anfield – is also massive, with the skipper most likely to accompany Thiago and Gini Wijnaldum.

The drive and leadership that he brings to the side is great and it was sorely missed when he was either in defence or out injured.
