Liverpool had reportedly made a sensational approach to sign Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
Italian journalist Marco Conterio claimed that both the Reds and arch-rivals Manchester United had made offers of €70million (£60million) in an attempt to land the 24-year-old.
However, Fabrizio Romano has since shot down those reports on Twitter, insisting there is no route to signing Barella this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to strengthen the midfield department during this transfer window following the departure of Gini Wijnaldum.

The 29-cap ace scored three and assisted another 10 goals in 2020/21 – earning an impressive 7.11 average Sofascore rating in the process.

All things considered, this deal always seemed farfetched.
Not only are the finances out of the potential realms of Liverpool’s possibilities this summer, but the Italian’s importance at the San Siro would also make it an unlikely feat.
Barella would be the dream arrival at Anfield however, young enough to improve immensely and already a top performer.
