Jurgen Klopp confirms he is considering playing Fabinho back in midfield

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he is considering playing Fabinho in both defence and midfield moving forward.

The Brazilian has been outstanding at centre-back this season, having been forced to play there because of injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Fabinho has been missing since the 4-1 defeat at home to Manchester City last month, but he is expected to return for Thursday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Having Fabinho back is such a big positive for Liverpool, with the 27-year-old a Player of the Year contender for the Reds.

It makes sense to use him at centre-back for the time being, considering that area is far more threadbare than the midfield, with Ozan Kabak, Nathaniel Phillips and Ben Davies the only other options at the back currently.

In time, however, Fabinho must revert to the No.6 role that he has made his own at Anfield, simply because it remains his best position.

That may not be able happen regularly until Van Dijk, Gomez and Matip are around next season, however, with the Brazil international focusing on being a defender for now.
