Even with the arrival of Virgil van Dijk for a world record £75m fee, Liverpool still expect to be busy in the January transfer window but mainly regarding players leaving Anfield.

While the likes of Danny Ings and Lazar Markovic are expected to complete permanent moves, many of Liverpool’s talented young players could be primed for loan departures into the Football League.

Attacker Ben Woodburn, winger Harry Wilson and midfielder Marko Grujic are three likely candidates for loan offers when the transfer window opens next week but Jurgen Klopp has refused to reveal what his plans are just yet.

The three players have combined for just seven appearances in all competitions so far this season and there in considerable interest from the Championship in them.

Discussing his plans for the trio, Klopp seems to suggest he’ll take a wait and see approach.

We will see. These boys are all really close, much closer than you can see when I do the squad.

We have to decide at one point if it makes sense that they stay. For a lot of them, it makes sense that they stay here because we need them. For a few, maybe it makes a little bit less sense.

We will see and nothing is decided so far. We will see which clubs are asking and then we have to make a decision whether it is good for the boy or not and all these things.

But, really, for most of them there will be no transfer window. They will stay here.
