Juventus ready to move for Can

Champions League finalists and Serie A champions Juventus are thought to be preparing a summer move for Liverpool midfielder, Emre Can.

The German is yet to sign a new deal at Anfield despite negotiations between the two parties, and rumours coming from Italy and a report in the Daily Star suggest that Juventus’ long-held interest in the 23-year-old remains stronger than ever.

Can arrived from Bayer Leverkusen three years ago for £9.75 million, but with the report suggesting that a delegation from the Italian giants were sent to England recently to monitor the situation, it could mean that this is where his time in the Premier League comes to an end.

He has endured an up-and-down start to his Anfield career, but provided evidence of his quality with a sustained run of excellent displays in midfield over the last months of the 2016-17 season, and was a more than able replacement for injured skipper Jordan Henderson.

The rugged midfielder highlighted his talents with an incredible overhead kick to seal a vital away win against Watford, which was voted ‘Goal of the Season’ on Match of the Day.

Liverpool fans will be entitled to wonder why contract negotiations with Can have dragged on for so long, given the surprise in many quarters at the erratic Dejan Lovren being handed a new £100k a week deal, and swiftly putting pen to paper only a few weeks ago.

The report also suggests that Liverpool have indicated they would rather sell Can now than lose him for nothing next summer, and would expect a fee upwards of £26 million for the midfielder.
