Bayer Leverkusen youngster Kai Havertz visited Melwood ahead of a possible move, according to reports, although Rory Smith of The NY Times says that was not the case.

Sam McGuire says that Jurgen Klopp, Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho were all in attendance to meet the 18-year-old as the Reds tried to convince him to sign for Liverpool in the summer.

It was reported that Leverkusen granted Havertz, dubbed ‘the next Ozil’ permission to visit Liverpool as they have him tied down to a long-term deal and as such, the Reds would have to pay a hefty price in order to sign him.
Liverpool’s policy of watching young players across the world to bring them to the club is well documented, so it would make sense for them to be looking at Havertz, although Smith is adamant that the German did not visit Melwood in October.
