Klopp refuses to rule out January exit for Coutinho

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to rule out a January exit for Philippe Coutinho, who is a known target for La Liga leaders Barcelona.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Liverpool boss could not confirm nor deny that Philippe Coutinho will be heading to Catalonia in the January transfer window:

I have no idea. We will see. We do not talk about things like this.

Can you imagine what it would be like to say ‘yes, we have an agreement’?

Right now, the truth is that nobody thinks about this. We do not talk about that, why should we?

Coutinho has been influential for Liverpool since his return to the side following a transfer saga involving Barcelona in the summer window; it has been claimed that Liverpool wanted £183 million for the Brazilian, who they signed from Serie A side Inter Milan for £8.5 million in 2013.

The playmaker has scored four goals in eight appearances so far this season, and has played in the Champions League — meaning that he’d be ineligible for European competition with any other club this season, even if they were to sign him in the January transfer window.

Mundo Deportivo’s report claims that Coutinho has an agreement with the Liverpool board that he will be allowed to leave in January if Barcelona return for his services, as a thanks for the Brazilian not refusing to play after being denied his move away in the summer window.
