Liverpool target Alexandre Lacazette could hand in a transfer quest to force a move away from Lyon, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to revamp his forward line with Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert – all of whom could leave Anfield this summer – failing to impress.
Lacazette, who has been capped 11 times by France has emerged as one of the most admired striking talents in the continent after scoring 27 goals in 33 appearances last season for Lyon as they finished second in Ligue 1.
If the French international is to arrive on Merseyside then the Reds will have to fight off European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich – both of whom have the advantage of Champions League football – as they are rumoured to be keeping an eye on the forward.
Rodgers has already signed Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino to add to his fire power up front, as well as having Divock Origi available after finishing his loan deal at former club Lille as part of the transfer deal for the Belgian.
Lyon are demanding that any potential suitors pay nothing less than £28m for the forward whose contract runs until 2018, so Rodgers could be forced to splash the cash a second time after completing the signing of Firmino for £29m earlier this summer.
