Lallana: There’s more to come from me

Adam Lallana has admitted that his first season with Liverpool didn’t go as well as he would have hoped and he is determined to ensure next season is better from a personal point of view, as well as the team’s.

He is quoted in The Mirror as saying: “The past year has been full of ups and downs. I’ve had a few injuries that have set me back in terms of my flow. I’ve got going a couple of times and the team has been on a good run and then got injured again.”

Lallana admits that Liverpool’s final league position was hugely disappointing and not getting into any cup finals, despite making it to the semi-finals in the Capital One and FA Cup.

The midfielder, though, is insistent that there is more to come from him at Anfield, and he is eager to prove his hefty price tag:

“But there’s plenty more to come from me next season. I feel at home in Liverpool, I have settled in well, my family have settled in well and the fans have been great too. So have the lads in the dressing room.

“I think we’ll learn from it. The team has experienced it and we’ll have to come back and work twice as hard in pre-season. We need to put things right on the pitch, that’s all we can do.”

The 27-year-old is very happy with some of the Reds’ business so far, particularly, his international colleague, James Milner.

“James Milner, he’s a fantastic player. He’s played his whole career in different positions. He’s won so many caps, won titles and trophies with Manchester City and it’s great for Liverpool to sign someone like him.

“James is going to be a vital addition to the squad. He’s a complete role model. He’s got unbelievable ability and sometimes people don’t appreciate that in the way they should. Left foot, right foot, got a goal in his locker and always fit. He’s the perfect player.

“For a player of his ability, to go on a free transfer, it doesn’t happen very often. It’s great Liverpool have persuaded him to come to us.”
