Mark Lawrenson says Liverpool have missed a trick by not completing the loan signing of Manchester United flop Radamal Falcao.
Speaking with The Mirror, Lawrsenson hailed the move by José Mourinho’s Chelsea as a “masterstroke” and believes the Reds should have moved to sign the Monaco forward to end their ongoing striker issues.
“José Mourinho is pulling off a masterstroke. He played well with Diego Costa at Atletico Madrid so I think it’s a bonus, I really do,” said the former Liverpool defender.
“[If I was Brendan Rodgers] I’d have gone for Falcao – £7million on a loan? I would have taken him.”
Even though Liverpool have moved quickly this summer to secure two forward signings in Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino, Lawrenson clearly rates the Columbian striker highly.
Falcao failed to score during his sides Copa America run, and only scored four goals in 29 appearances for United, with none of his goals coming after January 31.
