Leeds have bid for ex-Liverpool winger Ryan Kent rejected by Rangers

Rangers have rejected an offer from Leeds United, believed to be worth around £10 million, for former Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.

The offer was confirmed by Reds legend and now manager at Ibrox Steven Gerrard.

He told BBC Sport:

Yes, we’ve had contact from Leeds. An opening bid has been strongly rejected. They are way, way off with that opening bid. That’s the truth and the reality. He’s a player who is not for sale.

Kent joined Rangers from Liverpool after coming through the youth ranks at Anfield, for a reported £6.5m fee in September 2019. The move came following a successful year-long loan with the club the season earlier.

Now, he is being targetted by Premier League newcomers Leeds as Marcelo Bielsa readies his squad for top-flight football after guiding them to the Championship title last term.

The Reds’ retain a vested interest in Kent’s next move as they included a 20% sell-on clause in the deal which sealed his departure, so if a bid of more than £10 million was accepted, Liverpool would bag themselves over £2million, so this situation is well worth keeping an eye on for Reds’ fans.

Since joining Gerrard’s Rangers the winger has made 80 appearances, scoring 16 goals, including two this season, in which Kent has looked particularly sharp.

His form has alerted the attention of Leeds, who are likely to return with another bid despite being told their first attempt was some way short of the Gers’ valuation.
