Leeds make contact with Liverpool about Harry Wilson deal

Leeds United have made contact with Liverpool about a potential deal to take Harry Wilson from Anfield to Elland Road, as per the Liverpool Echo.

The Welsh international has returned to Melwood after his loan spell at Bournemouth but he’s far from certain of a place in Liverpool’s matchday squad, given the strength in depth that exists in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Therefore, it makes sense that he could be allowed to leave the club this summer but Liverpool have made it clear that they will not be loaning the winger out – he’ll either be sold or will be kept as part of the Reds’ first-team set-up.

Liverpool have apparently put a £20m asking price on the winger, who is also a reported target for both Newcastle United and Southampton.

It’s understandable that Liverpool aren’t keen to loan Wilson out again but that £20million asking price may put off a lot of potential suitors, so the Reds might need to show a bit of willingness to negotiate.

For Wilson, being stuck way down the ranks at Liverpool won’t really do him much good, but given that the upcoming season is set to be a hectic one, there is a chance that he gets a bit of game time if he does stay at Anfield.

Whether Leeds or anyone else, wants to spend £20m on Wilson remains to be seen but it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Welshman leave at some point over the next month.
