Liverpool have announced the signing of free agent striker Danny Ings, who will officially join the club on July 1, subject to a medical.
The Reds’ interest in the 22-year-old has been constant since the January transfer window and despite late interest from Tottenham Hotspur; Ings has chosen to move to Anfield.
After his contract with Burnley had expired, Liverpool will have to pay a compensation fee set by a tribunal as the forward is under the age of 24. However, both clubs are still trying to agree a fee without going through that process.
With Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli expected to depart this summer, Ings will add numbers to a faltering strikeforce.
Divock Origi will also be returning from a loan at Lille. Liverpool are still on the lookout for a main striker with Christian Benteke being touted by the press.
Ings scored 11 goals and created four assists for relegated Burnley last season.
He started his career at AFC Bournemouth and also spent a short period of time on loan at Dorchester Town.
In 2011, Ings made a move to Burnley and made over 100 appearances for them scoring over 35 goals.
The Englishman has also represented his country at Under-21 level and has also made the squad for the forthcoming Under-21 European Championships in the Czech Republic.
