Liverpool have contacted Martin Skrtel to get the lowdown on Trabzonspor teammate Ugurcan Cakir, according to Takvim, via Sport Witness.
The Reds have been linked with the 23-year-old goalkeeper a number of times, but no move has come to fruition as of yet.
Cakir has impressed for Trabzonspor alongside Skrtel this season, making 25 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig.
Skrtel is believed to have sent back a positive report on his colleague, who could cost more than €17 million this summer – the amount that they earned when they sold Yusuf Yazici to Lille.

I think Cakir could be an ideal replacement for Adrian, should the Spaniard leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
Adrian started life at Anfield promisingly, but back-to-back costly errors against Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have highlighted his limitations.
Cakir could prove to be a younger, long-term option, learning from Alisson but also potentially being an upgrade on youngsters Caoimhin Kelleher and Kamil Grabara.
Should Adrian remain at the club, however, I don’t see any need for Liverpool to be looking at other goalkeeping options.
