Liverpool discussing new contract with Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool have opened talks with their highly-rated full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold over signing a new contract, just months after he signed his previous one, according to a report from Paul Joyce in The Times.

The youngster signed a long-term contract in November 2016 which would keep him at the club until 2021, but the Reds are ready to offer him a new contract with better personal terms following his impressive performances in 2017.

The new proposed contract will keep him at the Merseyside club until 2022 and proves how highly Liverpool rate the full-back.

The 18-year-old was very impressive in his breakthrough season, making his debut at Old Trafford against Manchester United in a 1-1 draw. Following that game, the youngster went on to make 12 appearances in all competitions as manager Jurgen Klopp showed his faith in the youngster.

The full-back also has big ambitions at the club. He said:

I want to play for Liverpool for my whole career and one day hopefully I’ll captain the side.

The Englishman seems to have cemented his spot as understudy to Nathaniel Clyne at right-back and is ready to even challenge the ex-Southampton man for a starting spot next season.
