After admitting defeat in their pursuit of Leipzig star midfielder Naby Keita, Liverpool have been searching for alternatives and are focusing their attention on one of the best around in Ligue 1.

According to Ed Aarons, the Reds have entered a crowded race to sign highly-rated OGC Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri this summer.
The 26-year-old played a starring role for Nice last season, scoring seven goals and laying on nine assists for his teammates as the French side qualified for this season’s Champions League.

Seri has also provided an assist in both legs of their qualifying round clash with Ajax earlier this summer.
With Emre Can’s future also uncertain, Liverpool are keen to add another midfielder into the mix and Seri is at the top of their wishlist. The player has a €40m release clause in his contract.
Arsenal and Barcelona have both been linked with a move for the Ivory Coast international, but the Gunners need to sell before they can recruit another midfielder, while Barcelona have just signed former Tottenham flop Paulinho, possibly giving Liverpool a free run at signing Seri this summer.
