Liverpool eye move for versatile Marseille youngster Boubacar Kamara

Liverpool are eyeing up a summer move for Marseille youngster Boubacar Kamara, according to Calciomercato [via Sport Witness].

The 21-year-old is a versatile player capable of shining in defence or midfield and he has made eight appearances for France Under-21s.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer, as he looks for more dependable options at the back.

It is claimed that Liverpool have ‘cast their eyes’ on Kamara, whose Marseille contract runs out in the summer of 2022.

Kamara could be an exciting addition to the Reds’ squad, having started 24 of his side’s 26 Ligue 1 games this season, despite his tender years.

A pass completion rate of 84.9 percent suggests his ball-playing ability could suit Klopp’s style, while an average of 2.1 aerial duel wins per game is only narrowly inferior to Virgil van Dijk (2.4) in the Premier League this season, before he got injured.

Marseille will know that this summer will be their last chance to realistically earn a big fee for Kamara’s services and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool genuinely view him as a strong option to come in.

His ability to thrive in defence and midfield could certainly appeal, much in the same way Fabinho has impressed in both roles.
