Liverpool are set to face a defensive injury dilemma going into this weekend’s fixture against Manchester United, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was substituted in the 90th minute of yesterday’s crucial 1-0 win over Napoli in the Champions League and is now a doubt for the game.
The England international was replaced by Dejan Lovren after picking up a foot injury and he will now undergo a scan to assess the severity of the problem.
There are fears that the 20-year old will miss another big game for Liverpool on Sunday as they aim to stay at the Premier League summit by defeating their arch-rivals.
Joel Matip was another casualty of yesterday’s win after being sent to hospital for scans on his shoulder despite completing the game.
This all comes after it was revealed that Joe Gomez will miss the festive period following a leg fracture suffered in the Reds’ win against Burnley last week.

Nathaniel Clyne, who is yet to feature this season, has also been sidelined after picking up a knock in training.
Manager Jurgen Klopp now faces a difficult decision as to who plays in defence against Jose Mourinho’s side following all these casualties.
Dejan Lovren is likely to partner Virgil Van-Dijk in the centre of defence but it is at right-back where the big issue lies.
If Alexander-Arnold is ruled out, then Liverpool have little choice but to play somebody as a makeshift right-back.
This is likely to be either James Milner, who also went off against Napoli due to cramp, or Fabinho.
Milner seems the most likely candidate after already playing at right-back against Bournemouth last weekend
