A number of Liverpool fans are bemused by Tony Cascarino’s claims that the Reds should consider a summer move for Olivier Giroud.
The Reds are having a run of form to forget currently, losing their last four Premier League games and dropping to sixth in the table.
While Liverpool’s defensive injury crisis has clearly played a part in their woes, they have also been struggling to fire in the final third.
Mohamed Salah has been in good form, in fairness, scoring 24 times this season, but Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have both been well short of their best.
It could be that attacking reinforcements come in during the summer transfer window, in order to add depth and quality.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino talked up the idea of Giroud coming in, despite being 34 years of age and not necessarily being a Jurgen Klopp-style player:
I think there are very few players that can do the Roberto Firmino role. Look, at 35 years old, he’d do a great job.
I still think there is a year or two left in him. He doesn’t rely on pace. He reminds me a little bit of Teddy Sheringham at times.
I know Teddy played a slightly different role, but he’s got that in him where he can play that No.10 or No.9 role.
These Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to react to his comments, with most of them against the idea of Giroud coming in.
No we don't want him
