A number of Liverpool fans have been hailing Rhys Williams, following a dominant performance for England’s U21s.
The 19-year-old started in his country’s 3-1 win over Andorra U21s on Friday night, helping them to a 3-1 win.
Curtis Jones also played for the Three Lions, getting on the scoresheet as his reputation continues to grow.
Williams produced an imposing display at the heart of England’s defence, impressing in all facets of his play.
With Liverpool currently suffering a defensive injury crisis, it could be that the teenager is used more regularly than expected this season.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez could both miss the rest of the campaign, while there are constant concerns over Joel Matip‘s fitness.
Williams started in the Reds’ 5-0 win away to Atalanta earlier this month, excelling alongside Gomez and looking at home in a taxing Champions League clash.
The hope is that he grows from that performance and becomes a genuine option for Jurgen Klopp moving forward, helping ease the current crisis.
Williams’ display caught the eye of a number of Liverpool fans on Twitter, with many lauding the centre-back’s quality.
Here are the best of the reactions.
