Some Liverpool supporters have been left stunned by comments from Mark Clattenburg regarding Manchester United winning penalties during the Alex Ferguson era.
The Reds entertain United on Sunday afternoon in what is arguably the biggest Premier League game of the season so far. Liverpool trail their bitter rivals by three points, so victory at Anfield is crucial this weekend.
Much has been made of United’s ability to win penalties this season, with Jurgen Klopp voicing his frustration surrounding the issue.
United have won a total of 41 spot kicks since Klopp arrived at Liverpool, but the Reds have been awarded just 30 (This Is Anfield), despite being a more dominant attack team during that period.
There was often a feeling that referees were biased in United’s favour during Ferguson’s time as manager – something which Clattenburg has seemingly endorsed.
The former Premier League official told the Daily Mail that such bias no longer exists, but admitted that it once did, saying:
He (Klopp) does not like losing, he never has. He gets prickly. But he is wrong to suggest there is an aura around United that sees them given favourable decisions.
There used to be when Fergie was there, but that has eased massively since he left.
These Liverpool fans have reacted to Clattenburg’s comments on Twitter, showing frustration at Ferguson seemingly having things his own way for so long.
So what your saying Mark is that referees did give Ferguson favourable decisions.

The biggest culprit of bias in Fergies was Mike Riley who happens to be in charge of today's referees.
