Some Liverpool supporters have mocked Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, after he made a sly dig at the Reds on social media.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were left licking their wounds on Wednesday evening, as they went out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage.
Atletico Madrid’s 3-2 victory at Anfield sealed a 4-2 win on aggregate for the La Liga giants, although the scoreline was perhaps slighlty harsh on the hosts.
Unsurprisingly, rival supporters enjoyed seeing Liverpool dumped out of the competition – when you’re the best team around, everyone want you to lose, let’s face it!
It wasn’t only fans aiming digs in the Reds’ direction, however, with Schmeichel vocal about the result on Twitter.
The former goalkeeper posted a message feigning disappointment at Liverpool going out, highlighting exactly who he was cheering for at Anfield:
😭……not!

These Reds fans were quick to shoot down Schmeichel, though, mocking both him and the gap between the Reds and United currently.
