Many Liverpool fans have been ruing yet another tricky draw in the FA Cup as they were drawn in the fourth round to play arch-rivals Manchester United – a tie which will be played a week after the Premier League meeting between the two.
Since Jurgen Klopp‘s arrival in 2015, the Reds have now been drawn against top-flight opposition on 17 occasions out of 26 in domestic cup competitions.
Whilst it’s to bemoan the hand dealt by lady luck, or on this occasion the hand of former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, ultimately it is sheer luck which has seen Klopp face difficult clashes in the early rounds of domestic competitions time and again.
With tough opposition and the German’s priorities lying elsewhere, the Reds have struggled to go deep into either the FA Cup or the Carabao Cup on which watch, whilst a certain other club who routinely seem to face lower league opposition until the final have a stranglehold over those trophies.
We’ve put together a pick of the reactions from Reds fans on Twitter to the latest cup draw…
