Many Liverpool fans have pined for the return of Virgil van Dijk ever since the giant Dutchman wandered around the pitch at Goodison Park nursing what turned out to be a serious injury.
This week, the waiting Reds received some potentially positive news regarding the extent of Van Dijk’s injury as Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT told 3CB Performance on YouTube that the 29-year-old hadn’t suffered a multi-ligament knee injury.
Instead, the Dutch centre-back received surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament – still severe enough to keep him out for a prolonged period, but enough to give Liverpool fans hope that their key defensive figure could return earlier than first anticipated.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have suffered the consequences in Van Dijk’s absence, compounded by Joe Gomez’s long-term layoff.
Although the champions haven’t conceded an alarming number of goals, Fabinho’s absence from the midfield to cover for the losses of Gomez and Van Dijk has been felt acuetly.
Unsurprisingly, with anything even remotely positive in terms of updates on the ‘Rolls Royce’ defender, the PFA Player of the Year in 2018/19, a host of Kopites have reacted jubilantly on Twitter…
