It has been reported by Mellissa Reddy of the Independent that Norwich City left-back Jamal Lewis is the subject of a £10million bid from the Premier League champions.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for cover for left-back Andy Robertson, who himself arrived at Anfield from a relegated side in Hull City.
Lewis, who is represented by the same agency as Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the PLG agency, could now extend his personal stay in the top-flight by making a move to the champions
Whilst Liverpool could yet face competition for Lewis’s signature, it is believed they are at the most advanced stage in talks with Norwich currently.
The 22-year-old Northern Ireland international played 28 times in the league this season, scoring once and he was a cause for optimism in an otherwise dismal campaign for the Canaries, a campaign which saw them finish bottom of the league by some margin.

Lewis’s energetic runs from left-back were a feature at Carrow Road throughout 2019/20 and despite his side only winning five games all season, the left-back earned many admirers with his performances, none more so it seems than the Liverpool hierarchy.
His tireless runs and positivity could make him the perfect understudy for Robertson, who was barely rested last term for fear of an ineffective replacement.
Robertson played in almost every match during the successful 2019/20 campaign, and when he was unavailable or rested there was a glaring lack of natural cover in his position with James Milner, Joe Gomez or Neco Williams filling in at times, each out of their own comfort zone.
At £10 million in today’s market, Lewis could represent somewhat of a bargain, and given Liverpool’s frugal spending pattern and the player’s age, it’s a deal that could suit the Reds down to the ground.
Should this deal go ahead, Lewis will become the sixth successive summer signing that Liverpool has made from a club who have just been relegated. With the aforementioned Robertson, Gini Wihnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri, Danny Ings, and Harvey Elliot all arriving at Anfield having just faced the dreaded drop.
