Liverpool in the race to sign Brandt

Liverpool are in a three-way battle to sign Julian Brandt this summer, according to a report from Calciomercato.

The Reds were strongly linked with the Bayer Leverkusen star back in 2017, but ended up signing Mohamed Salah instead.

Rumours have continued to emerge in the two years since, however, and it looks as though Jurgen Klopp is still targeting the attacking midfielder.

Liverpool are believed to be tussling with Real Madrid and Juventus for Brandt’s signature, with his €25million release clause potentially looking like a bargain.

The 22-year-old has had an outstanding season with Leverkusen, scoring four goals and registering an impressive 11 assists.

He is already seen as a key part of Germany’s present and future, as they move on from the generation of Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller and bring in youngsters.

There is no indication about who are the favourites to sign Brandt, but the lure of joining Klopp’s Reds must appeal, given their current trajectory.
