Liverpool are interested in signing Flamengo’s attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to broadcaster Andersinho Marques.

Paqueta was recently selected as one of the twelve alternatives by Tite for the Brazilian World Cup squad, although he was not required to be called up. Of the 35 players in the provisional squad, Lucas was the youngest.

The 20-year-old was linked with a move to Manchester City earlier this week but Liverpool are interested in him too and could look to hijack any deal that City had in place.
Paqueta is under contract with Flamengo until 2020 but the Brazilian side are likely to sell up if any club meets their valuation.
City were rumoured to be willing to meet the release clause in Paqueta’s contract, which is believed to be around £40million but it remains to be seen if Liverpool would be willing to do the same
