Liverpool’s transfer fee for Naby Keita has been finalised after RB Leipzig finished sixth in the Bundesliga.
Sky Sports claim that the 23-year-old will cost the Reds £52.75 million, as per the agreement signed last summer stating the fee would be dependant on league position.
Had the German outfit qualified for the Champions League, Liverpool would’ve owed £59 million, while the fee for Leipzig finishing seventh or lower would’ve been £48 million.
Keita has been a key player for the club this year, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in 39 appearances from central midfield.
Leipzig secured sixth with a 6-2 win at Hertha Berlin on the final day, meaning they finished two points ahead of Stuttgart in seventh.
The Guinean will become boss Jurgen Klopp’s first signing of the summer and will have to be the first of many if the Reds are to capitalise on their strong European run and make a push for the Premier League title next year.
Keita could be a direct replacement for Emre Can, who is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract and has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus.
