Transfer expert Constantin Eckner has claimed Liverpool have now made a bid to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
In his Tweet, the journalist also claimed that the Reds already have an agreement in place with the player and are now advancing negotiations with Bayern.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Thiago all summer after it emerged the 29-year-old wanted to leave the Bavarian club, with Liverpool his desired destination.
Thiago has now entered the final year of his contract and has seemingly told the club he will not be signing a new deal, as well as saying his goodbyes to his teammates
However, Liverpool are reportedly reluctant to meet Bayern’s £27 million valuation for the Spaniard, leaving the deal at a standstill.
German outlet Bild reported that Thiago was recently given additional days off as the squad returned from international duty, perhaps as the midfielder continues to sort his immediate future.

This deal may still hinge on the future of current Red, Gini Wijnaldum, who is also in the final year of his deal, and with interest from Barcelona, it could yet be one in one out at in the midfield department Anfield.
That would be a shame in some regards as Liverpool could look to simply bring Thiago in, thus strengthening the squad that won the title.
Losing Wijnaldum in the process of getting Thiago would still mean Liverpool are improving, but only slightly rather than significantly.
