Since Jurgen Klopp joined the Reds back in 2015, the fans saw a major rebuild of the clubs squad.
The German has spent the last few years on Merseyside building and perfecting his starting XI.
During this time, Liverpool’s squad has a completely new look in every aspect, bar captain Jordan Henderson.
The Englishman seems to be one of the only components left prior to Klopp joining all those years ago.
However, the current dream will one day come to an end, leading Klopp to have to rebuild his title winning team.
In a recent article from the Liverpool Echo, football scouting writer David Hughes thinks he knows the perfect player to start the rebuild.
During their Analysing Anfield podcast, Hughes named Sampdoria and Denmark youngster Mikkel Damsgaard.
The 20-year-old has impressed for the Italian side last season, making 35 Serie A appearances.
This has been impressively followed up by his appearances so far at Euro 2020 for the Danish.
Having started the last two games against Russia and Belgium, Damsgaard has shown exactly what he can bring.
The winger scored an incredible opening goal against Russia in their 4-1 win against the Russians.
Hughes was more than complimentary of Damsgaard, stating…
“When I’ve looked at him in more depth, following that Russia game, he looks a player who could potentially tick a lot of boxes for Liverpool.
He’s a really good age, he looks like he’s got a really high ceiling, technically he’s really good, he’s versatile, and he can play different positions across the attack.

There is no denying Damsgaard is a fantastic young player, with Hughes even comparing him to Philippe Coutinho.
As impressive as a comparison as it may be, Damsgaard is certainly the type of player the club would target.
However, with no concrete links and the player only recently joining Sampdoria, this is a transfer for the future.
Hughes may be on to something with Damsgaard, but only time will tell with plenty left in his career.
