Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan, according to Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard on Twitter [via Sport Witness].
The Reds are believed to be ‘keeping abreast’ of the 20-year-old’s situation, with AC Milan and RB Leipzig also showing an interest.
Simakan has started all 18 of Strasbourg’s Ligue 1 games so far this season, despite his tender years.
The French club are willing to sell the youngster this month, however, with Chelsea, Wolves and Everton all mentioned as past suitors.
A price tag isn’t specified with regards to Simakan, but he is valued at £16.2million on Transfermarkt.

It doesn’t appear as though Liverpool’s interest is too concrete, with Milan and Leipzig more likely to go head-to-head.
Simakan is the type of centre-back the Reds should go for, however, if they are to make a January addition.
He is young, but has enough experience of top-level football to be a solid squad option, as Jurgen Klopp tackles an injury crisis at the back.
It currently looks as though a new centre-back won’t be arriving, though, which would represent a big risk.
