Sevilla’s club director Ramon Monchi has stated that clubs will have to pay Carlos Bacca’s release clause if they want to sign him, which is reported to be £21.5 million.
After cooling their interest in Christian Benteke, Liverpool have turned their attentions to Bacca.
The striker scored 20 goals in La Liga last season and Sevilla are determined to hold on to their main forward. The 28-year-old has been linked with moves away from the Andalucian club but has previously confirmed his content with staying in Seville.
Liverpool now know what they have to pay if they want prize him away from Spain. Monchi said, as quoted in the Daily Mail:
“If someone wants Bacca, they have to pay his clause. He’s told us that it’s his desire to stay with the club and I don’t see any other possibility.
“Bacca’s contract includes obligations for the club and the player, but if a club wants to pay his clause, there’s nothing we can do about that.”
He went on to say, “I really think he’ll stay here because the player and Sevilla want it so. We have no intention of selling him.”
Bacca joined Sevilla from Belgian club Club Brugge in 2013 for a fee of €7 million. He has gone on to establish himself as a key member in the team contributed heavily to their back-to-back Europa League triumphs.
The Colombian international is currently representing his country in the Copa America.
