Brendan Rodgers will listen to bids for Lucas Leiva this summer, according to David Anderson of The Mirror.
It was reported by the same paper last month that the club would be open to offers for the Brazilian midfielder, and this appears to still be the case after Inter Milan supposedly revived their interest in the 28-year-old.
The Italian club could be set to try once again to tempt him away from the club in which he has spent the last eight years.
Something that might convince Roberto Mancini to swoop for Lucas, who he admires, is the fact that he would not count as one of their two non-EU players because he has an Italian passport.
Lucas was signed by Rafael Benitez from Gremio back in 2007, and after an initial difficult period at Anfield, he soon cemented himself as a first team regular before an injury in 2011 stunted his progress.
Since then, many feel he hasn’t been the same player, and with so many injury problems in recent times it’s hard to picture him regaining the form that saw him become a fan favourite.
A move away for Lucas would leave Jordan Henderson, Joe Allen, Emre Can and James Milner to battle it out for the midfield places.
If Lucas were to leave, the Reds would be expected to bring in a replacement.
