Liverpool have renewed their interest in newly capped Belgian international striker Jeremy Doku according to Het Nieuwsblad via Sport Witness.
Doku has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time, having previously been invited to Melwood in the past, although a move failed to materialise at that time.
Now it seems the Reds’ interest never truly went away with the report claiming that Jurgen Klopp wants to secure a deal for the 18-year-old.
Doku’s current side Anderlecht are managed by former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who is believed to be ‘aware’ of the interest in his player but he has whilst denied reports suggesting that any negotiations are set to get underway.
It is believed that the Belgian, who made his national team debut earlier this week from the bench against Denmark, would be signed by Liverpool then loaned back to Kompany’s side for this season on completion of the deal.
The report also says that whilst the Pro League club aren’t keen to sell their asset, every player can be sold ‘for the right price’, which for Doku amounts to ‘tens of millions.’
The teenager has begun the 2020/21 campaign in a strong fashion, scoring once in four league appearances, whilst grabbing his first international goal against Iceland in his nations 5-1 UEFA Nations League win.
