Liverpool will reportedly lock horns with Napoli this summer over the signing of Sampdoria star Lucas Torreira.
The Uruguayan international midfielder has enjoyed yet another impressive for Sampdoria in Serie A and it appears as though his progress has not gone unnoticed.
Napoli are understood to have lined up Torreira as their top target to replace Jorginho, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds. However, the Italian international is looking likely to join Manchester City instead.
Liverpool remain on the lookout for midfield reinforcements, however, and Torreira is the latest name to be thrown into the mix by the Italian media, as Calciomercato report.
Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are also being linked with a move to land Torreira, with the manager-less club looking for replacements for Naby Keita. The Guinean midfielder will join Liverpool this summer after the clubs reached an agreement last year.
Torreira, 22, is a combative midfielder who has gone from strength to strength since establishing himself as a key player for Sampdoria.
