Celtic are being urged to complete a controversial transfer to sign Ryan Kent from Liverpool.
Dumbarton manager Jim Duffy believes that the Hoop should be looking at the Reds winger in the summer, should he become available on a permanent basis.
Kent has spent the season on loan at Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and will face off against the Hoops in Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.
It has been suggested that Liverpool could cash in on the player this summer and Duffy thinks it’s a deal that the Hoops should be considering, despite his recent affinity to Celtic’s local rivals.
Speaking on Clyde Superscoreboard, he said:
Celtic payed £9m for Edouard who’s a player with potential and certainly wasn’t the finished article.
I think Ryan Kent is certainly not the finished article and he’s got a lot to learn. His final ball, he’s got to create and assist more, he’s got to score more goals.
There’s times when he goes past people but there has to be more of an end product.
I’m not sure he’s ready to come up and play for that kind of money. If it was somewhere around the £7m mark then it might be an investment for Celtic.
Rangers are unlikely to be able to match Liverpool’s demands for Kent, meaning his long-term future may be away from the Scottish club.
The 22-year-old has five league goals in 19 starts this season and the best is surely yet to come from him.
