Mohamed Salah receives visa

Mohamed Salah has received his visa and is therefore eligible to play for Liverpool with immediate effect.

The Egyptian winger joined the Reds from AS Roma last month in a deal thought to be worth around £37m.

However, his eligibility to play wasn’t confirmed until he had a visa. In a bizarre process of events, the 25-year-old had to leave the country and then return again for his visa application to be complete.

He spent Wednesday in Paris attending the British Embassy for a meeting.

Now that has been dealt with, Salah can now link up with any of Jurgen Klopp’s future squads for preseason and eventually make his short awaited debut.

He missed Liverpool’s victory against Tranmere on Wednesday evening, as the Reds cantered to a 4-0 win, with goals from James Milner (penalty), Marko Grujic, Pedro Chirivella and Ben Woodburn (penalty).

Liverpool take on Wigan on Friday night, so don’t be surprised if the former Roma player features for the first time.
