Liverpool’s move for Lyon star Nabil Fekir might not be as close as reports suggest, according to the player’s father, Mohamed.
Speaking to Olympique-et-lyonnais.com, Mohamed claimed that any reports of a meeting with Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp are not true and said that his son is happy with his boyhood club.
He said:
I hear there are arrangements, stuff like that… I was surprised. I can deny this information right now: it’s not true. Otherwise Nabil would have told me right away, we are very close. I can guarantee you that he never met (Klopp). His dream is to play in the Champions League with his boyhood club.

The 24-year-old attacking midfiedler joined the club at the age of 12 and was initially realesed two years later, before rejoining at the age of 18.
Fekir has very impressive stats this season, scoring 22 goals and providing eight assists across all competitions for Lyon, including three strikes in the Europa League.
Lyon are in a strong position to qualigy for next year’s Champions League, sitting second in the Ligue 1 table on 75 points.
Liverpool’s attacking trio of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been in sensational form this season, but could do with more competition next campaign if the Reds are to launch a Premier League challenge.
