Czech Republic legend Pavel Nedved has stated that the one player he would like from the Germany U21s squad to play for his former club Juventus is Liverpool’s Emre Can.
Nedved is currently observing the U21s European Championships in which Can’s Germany have qualified for the semi-finals.
Can has started all three group matches and scored the equaliser in their opening 1-1 draw against Serbia. He is playing in his preferred midfielder position, something that he was not able to do for Liverpool last season.
Nedved was asked about the player he would choose for the Serie A champions and he told Goal:
“That’s very easy. It would be Emre Can. He has basically everything.
“Can has excellent technique and radiates a lot of team spirit.”
Nedved’s praise comes as calls to play Can in midfield gathers pace. Brendan Rodgers played the 21-year-old in centre back and right back positions last season. While he looked comfortable in a central position, he failed to convince on the right.
Can will be in action again against fellow Liverpool teammate Tiago Ilori’s Portugal in the semi-final on Saturday.
